Oh dear, that makes me sound even older than I am… - but i am assuming that you were referring to M0JLA, so I thought i’d better warn you that he hasn’t hung up his boots (and that rucksack) as he is driving up to Oswestry at this very moment and has, I believe, alerted for 2 hills round there before continuing to a Club dinner in Snowdonia on Saturday. Please look out for him as he might need some help because of the red HF warning. He did leave the house muttering ‘I’d better pick up the RH770, which I never use, before leaving the car…’) This means that he might be forced onto VHF and he’s got the ‘headless’ telescopic aierial (I sat on it on a very wet Scottish Island activation some years ago …, as one does!) as I swapped it for the intact one some years ago!. Wonder who he will blame if he gets no replies?? Help pse!

Hi Viki, I could hear it was your recognisable tones on 2m but it was just not enough for a QSO unfortunately. Zilch on 70cms (I was able to make an educated guess as to when you switched!).
Well done to to Rod!
Thanks to Viki, M6BWA, for her account of the activation. As predicted I did begin the next 1500 with a couple of little hills on Friday and a bigger one on Saturday and made no 2m contacts as I found 40m and 20m working adequately. Still a bit to go to reach 20,000 activator contacts
This post is primarily to inform chasers that although I have not yet lowered the aerial permanently there will be a significant lack of activity during the rest of October and into November. This week has been both busy and wet and we are then off to the flat lands of East Anglia again, hoping there are no floods this time.
Thanks again for all the contacts so far - looking forward to more in due course.

Rod
