Anyone activating this little hill (LD-055)from Muncaster Castle should watch out for extensive logging activity on the approach. All the pine woods to the east and north of the little lake are gone! Heavy machines have cut ruts in the track about 1mtr wide and in places waist deep. Yesterday it was dry but in wet weather it may take a bit of avoiding. Having said that it seems a very orderly activity so maybe they will restore things when they are finished.
Radio wise 5MHz produced just one contact down into Devon and 7MHz was not much better. 10MHz and 2M ssb made up for it but 2M fm was a struggle. Seeing the abandoned activities on bigger hills yesterday we were glad we had opted for this little one and even there the east wind was occasionally savage.
