Warning!

If you haven’t got a pop-up stopper don’t visit the above link. I got all sorts of alarms when I viewed it at work.

In reply to GW7AAV:

Strange that Steve, I use pop up stoppers and I have had no problems at all. Maybe it’s your works PCs that are super safety consious as is usually the case.

P.S. I just disabled my pop up blocker and still had no problems, maybe they don’t want you surfing in the workplace.

In reply to GW0DSP:

The works PCs haven’t got the pop up stoppers and I ended up with 6 or so pop-ups some of which kicked off the antivirus/spywear alarms. I don’t think anyone on Firefox will have a problem but IE users should be careful.

In reply to GW7AAV:

I am on IE on my PC and laptop Steve and no problems, in fact you are the only one up to now who has experienced any problems.

In reply to GW0DSP:

Not had any problems here either using IE7

In reply to GW0DSP:
Looks like a good party - sorry I couldn’t make it!

What does pwned mean Andy?

In reply to GW0DSP:

Leet - Wikipedia is as good as any site to check. Second defintion in this case.

Very accurate for a huge number (10’s of millions) of PCs where the user’s primary browser of choice is some flavour of IE.

Thanks for the info Andy. I am certain that my computers are bug free and not invaded by others.

In reply to GW7AAV:

Thanks for making a mockery of this thread chaps!

In reply to GW0DSP:

Sorry Mike just being a Christmas Troll in response to those Christmas Elves. It was very elvish of me to hi-jack your thread but I did get a nasty porn pop-up amongst the adds that jumped out at me. I had a look at home and I got nowt but the the pop-up blocker icon was flashing. I am always very wary of those type of sites as they are very easy to compromise as seen by the number of viruses delivered by animated Christmas cards in the past. I know lots of people are not very computer savy out there and I want to be sure people are warned they may experince a problem.

Microsoft has warned everyone to dump Internet Explorer and use Firefox until they fix a massive security hole but probably only those computer savy enough to have dumped IE ages ago have noticed.

Anyway the animation is a giggle.

So Bah Humbug and have a proposterous New Year

Some explaination for those in the dark…

  1. All your base are belong to us.
    CATS are 1337
This is a reference to a computer game were the translation from the Japanese was not too hot. “All your base are belong to us” has come to mean “you loose” or your system has been compromised when used by hackers. CATS was the organisation in the computer game and 1337 means Leet or Elite infering you lost because CATS are better.

  2. 3val Haxors are us = We are Evil Hackers in leet speak.

  3. Read your emails do we
Self explainatary but in the tone of Yoda from Starwars it suggests the Internet is not as safe as you think it is.

Being compter savy is about knowing your enemy.

Have a safe and happy computer surfing experience and a safe and happy Christmas.

In reply to MM0FMF:

ROTFL

I see what you did there!

A common turn of phrase on the internet, generally used as an expression of quiet, subdued admiration for one’s wit. Especially appropriate after a particularly deft pun.

;0D Dude.

In reply to GW7AAV:

I think I’m going back to snail mail!
