Congratulations Esther. I am really pleased for you and was delighted to get into your log with a friendly and chatty summit to summit contact yesterday. You have been a huge support and have provided great encouragement to me and many others along the way.

Thank you,

I hope Esther doesn’t mind me alluding to the fact she has (like many of us) some long term health issues and in her case, these have made her mobility a very mixed bag. So it’s really great to see that she has been able to surmount these and reach MG status. Welcome to the herd… next 1k points should be in the planning stage now

Fantastic, Esther

Very well deserved - I hope to get there some day …

I remember fondly your tale of an ā€œoccurranceā€ on Callow Hill

Very many congratulations! Inspirational. :sparkling_heart: It was a comment from you back in the day that encouraged me to gain my full licence. So pleased that I did!

It’s been a week since we were on Benbradagh so whilst my legs have not recovered my head has as least got into some sort of order! A massive thanks to everyone who has replied to Ian’s post @GI0AZB - he never said anything about this and I only discovered it after I uploaded the log much later in the day!

When I got my second major illness in 2018 Ian stopped activating as well - if you look at our logs the last summit was 01-09-18 and I was back in hospital for a few months. I felt that wasn’t right for him to stop so our paths to Goat separated in Jan 2019. However he got me to 10 drive ons that year - I kept researching them and managed to find others until I could start to walk 1/4 mile to the odd summit. After covid I found an e-mountain trike and managed a few more. My next plan was to get goat as soon as I could after Ian but that did not happen either. So that’s how we ended up on Benbradagh 10yrs after setting out doing as many accessible summits as I could find - I’m sure if anyone saw us out with the trike on Slieveannora a few weeks ago with Ian pushing me and the trike on the steepest part would have thought those 2 have lost the plot!!

Obviously my biggest thanks and love go to Ian - he really has gone above and beyond - probably wishes I had never heard an operator in Italy in 2013 who said he had walked to the top of a mountain and was operating portable. Also our kids Joe MI8JIE and Jen MI6JHE who have been out on the hills with us and tolerated much SOTA talk over the years! Many thanks to David @EI5IMB who was on Benbradagh with us and helped get me off the summit. To everyone who has helped with access to summits, and to all the chasers especially all the GI and EI ops in the various clubs and WhatsApp groups who listen patiently on 2m and HF for us to get to summits, all our GW, G, GM chasers and everyone around the rest of the world - thank you!

Absolutely Ian @GI0AZB !

Thanks Declan - your support has been immense!

That was brilliant Joe - our first and only run to Friedrichshafen so far - there have been 3 cancelled because of my health but hope to go this year!

I am hoping there will be many more - next target is getting 250 uniques!

Thanks Adrian - the AZs club

Thank you Caroline - this time we need a meet up not just S2Ss - I cannot remember why on earth we didn’t when you stayed in Dungiven!

yes - chased you once previously on 20m ssb to Rombalds Moore in 2019! we do need to get that cw s2s! There will be more CW from me on summits this year.

Thanks Alex - must send you real malt bread (or even better treacle soda bread) from Norn Iron when you get those last 35 points!!

Thanks Nuno - loads of contacts over the years!

Andy - was a pleasure and was great to meet you in Dreenagh!

I was and I did

You and your Dad were my first 2 S2Ss on 2m in 2016 from Brougher to Gortmonley Hill.

Andy - It was brilliant - you were my 5900th chaser on summits and 498th S2S!

Colwyn - I’m glad I wasn’t out on the Saturday - weather was awful here!

Markus - I have a few new targets! Thanks for the many chases, S2Ss and contacts over the years!

Vicki @M6BWA - you and Rod @M0JLA have been amongst our best SOTA friends for years now - the craic we have had since you both stayed in Pat Larry’s Cottage!

Get the uniques up to 250, and 1000pts on 70cms!

Thanks Tom - hopefully that will keep going!!

Thanks Gerald - conditions certainly not great!

Its been a very slow process - also I couldn’t cope with 40c ever

That will be another 10 years (or more  )

I hope so Gerald! I’d seize up if I stopped now!

Alan - we need to get a s2s when we are in Norn Iron - we seem to be out of GI for our S2Ss!

Kevin - That’s the kind of activation I like - as I hate been rushed!! I have especially enjoyed our CW contacts!!

Thank you Alan @GW4VPX !! Did you realise that you were my 1st S2S in 2016?

Working hard on that now Andy @GM4LLD !

Ian and I have encountered many odd sights on hills but that definitely counts as the weirdest and most memorable :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Thank you Mark - that was great to see you in Blackpool after so many on air contacts! (Can’t get used to no NOM NOM)

many thanks Robert!

Helen @M0TMD - I heard you on Sunday but you couldn’t hear me! We have a lot of similarities in our radio lives and was lovely you meet you in England a few years ago!

Again - a massive thanks to everyone - hope to hear you soon from a hill
