I used an FT707 with 10w output & while it worked fine it was very heavy at 6kg.
Now I am using an Xiegu X1M with 5w output & it weighs less than 500g.
At half the price of an FT-817 it is great value for money & it gets out just fine. I am currently using it with a 7AH SLA but intend getting a LiFePO4 that should give more capacity at less weight.
