Hello Klaus, thanks for the info/write up 8)
Where had the chasers gone when you were on 1.8 Mhz as you were a very good signal here into the UK as you know? Maybe it was tea time!¬
Best wishes

Hi all,
on my last activation on 20m ssb/cw on 2.march i was qrv only with my small mp1 vertical. signals to vk was good and the eu chasers very loud on this small antenna. so working VK is possible with so a small antenna. maybe some more activators from eu try it out in the morning hours. no big antenna is need.
my MP1 is a bit longer as the orginal one. its extended very simple below the coil. the telescop is orginal. here a photo from bw-228.

at saturday mornig i´m on dm/bw-042 to try VK again on 20m. i do this activation direct after a nightshift. if time enough and wx is ok i will set up a V-wirebeam. if i´m very good in time i set up a inv.L in a high tree to look also for 160m grey line. but then the sigs on 20m are not so good as with the wire beam…in moment i set only the alert for 20m on saturday. and please notice then i´m qrv as DF2GN. No more /portable sign at the end.
after this antenna test i will work on my first VK contact on 80m Hope it will happen next time Ian
a short time slot is around 1900utc…
vy 73 and hope work you on saturday !

I hope I can wake up early Saturday Klaus I am lucky to live out in the country and we have a under ground power main here too so that helps my qrn.

Propagation turns up when you least expect it. I was pleased to work Matt VK2DAG yesterday from G/NP-024 at 1400 GMT which I believe was 1AM in the morning at Matts end!
Yep having a strange sleeping disorder certainly helps!! Anyway I decided to stay up all night as I needed to drop my wife off at the train station at 4am) I didn’t see much point in going to sleep. And because of that I got to work a few NA peaks and qualified an NA association for my 3rd continent.
I can make a big noise on 80m. Vertical, power and beverages. But early mornings are the killer for me. If you want to make a “sked” Kluas I’ll drag my self out of bed before Dawn. I guess I’ve pestered enough guys in the States to do the same for me to get 1 away from 80m WAS (Looking for DE for 18 months now!). But it is summer down hare and the QRN out of the Pacific can be a quite bad. Also 80m has been quite bad lately with all the action on the sun. Which in turn as made 12m great. “Swings & round-a-bouts”
Also on the “/” thing. It does help me when looking for SOTAs on CW. Dah-di-di-dah-dit does stand out a bit when I am giving out 229 reports. A lot of you guys go a lot faster then what I am comfortable with. But I’ll work with what’s there
Matt.
In reply to VK2DAG:
Thanks for pulling me out of the noise on two consecutive days Matt, I’m very happy to accept 229!
You are still my only VK contact from a summit…

Thanks Matt for two Qs yesterday from here in Southern California. You were very easy to copy. Propagation conditions yesterday were extraordinarily good, particularly on 12 meters. 60+ Qs on each summit.

hope on condx that week.will post alert a few days before !
thanks and hope it works. after worked NA sota chasers on 80m,
VK is now on my list. after that i will do more antenna test again

a friend asked me why i use no more the /P sign in my call.
one of the reasons i forget toy say, is that i´m now ONLY !!
qrv in SOTA es GMA. because of my limited time this year with a lot
of training in different sports as a coach, i decided to take this time
to do only sota and gma. so if you here me on the bands i´m 100% on a hill.
sota gives me all that i need ! a fine and super friendly community, nice chasers around the world and a lot of space for hanging up my wires on the hills and mountains around my qth … really nice hobby i have !
