Photos of Manuel @EA2DT have appeared on Facebook. Like many SOTA activators I have had QSOs with Manuel and always recognized his callsign in CW as soon as he has sent just the EA. He is a legend. ![]()
..sorry John, I don’t use facebook, that company is too intrusive, particularly their data collecting and reselling! ![]()

LEGEND! He has chased me 137 times! With EA1DHB coming in a close second on 128.
Part timer! He’s chased me 274 times. Exactly twice your total, as it happens.
Noob… 281
The pleasure of working Manuel is it is always a straightforward and simple exchange. And if he doesn’t comeback to his call and report with my call and report then I know he’s not heard me (QSB etc.) and so I send his call and report again. Then he comes back and we can exchange 73 and move on. Simple, reliable procedure on CW that just works. Effortless QSOing ![]()
I had a huge pile up on 20m today, whilst activating Tap o’Noth GM/ES-054. I worked 20 stations in 10 minutes! It was a wall of noise and I struggled to pick out call signs. Manuel @EA2DT wasn’t the strongest, but his distinctive diction allowed me to pick his voice out of the noise.
A fine, but cool morning. Christmas tree abuse evident
For the record, Manuel is in my SOTA log 136 times, but probably only a couple of times this year.
Nice to know it’s as distinctive as his CW.
My understanding of the FB post was Manuel is on the right in the photo. ![]()
Edit: Ignore the above, I’m wrong (again)!
Manuel is on the left.

226 for me…. 3rd on my list. As others have said, easy to make out Manuel when he calls in and he has “great ears” and seems to pick out my little QRP station wherever I am, here in the UK or elsewhere around Europe (as well as Africa and Asia now).
331 here, out of my 360 activations to date.
And living at a mere kilometer from him it’s frequent we chase one after the other in a row, as we jump by chance to the same spot!
Manuel is also very active in POTA, and has been doing some activation with his friend Joaquin, EA2CCG, as that FB picture shows.

Manuel has chased me for SOTA, POTA, WWFF and HEMA. I wonder whether there is scheme that he is not interested in. As others have said, distinctive voice, distinctive keying. Always a welcome caller. ![]()
Part timer! 544 times, almost twice your total, as it happens!
My top chaser with 161, all CW, contacts.
His fast characters and distinct gaps make his call recognisable even if I only hear one letter!
He did e-mail me a photo of the key he uses some years ago, Alas, I can no longer remember what type of key it was.![]()
A SOTA without Manuel responding, is an incomplete affair!

Manuel is pure Legend…One time only we had no QSO… respect !
