Jamie & I had a great time on Manod Mawr today. Many thanks to all chasers.
Great report Simon. I am afraid I cannot help you out with a photo of the gated quarry entrance, because it seems I didn’t take one either! I did snap the rather weird blue* pool beside it though. *Disclaimer - author is colourblind].

In reply to G4TJC:Simon and Jamie,
So glad Merle and I spotted your posting here on the reflector. Such fun to see your photos. The pleasure of the contacts is ours also. Nice to be Jamies first Non UK! Too bad propagation wasn’t strong enough to have a more proper conversation. We are in a log cabin at the edge of the white Mts of New Hampshire, within 5 miles of the border with Maine. After a snowstorm we now have 23" on the ground and between playing SOTA we have been out tramping down the trails we have created in the forest. Quite beautiful with the snow still hanging in the evergreens. Thanks for being there!

Thank you Tom. Yes, the pool is a striking colour. It looks like they use the water for the saws &c and recirculate it, so a suspension of fine slate powder is likely responsible.

Thanks Herm. I’ll share your message with Jamie.
It sounds like proper winter there. On Manod we found barely enough snow for a snowball fight.
But just now I have read of conditions on Snowdon, GW/NW-001, which rises just behind us. Yesterday there was an avalanche, sweeping a couple 1000 feet down the mountain, injuring one of them. So sometimes not so tame here! I will just admire the view from below.
