And we’re fully up-to-date! The website http://tomread.co.uk is complete right up to this evening’s Cloud activation! There are 2,653 activation reports across thousands of webpages, covering my (and Jimmy’s) SOTA history over the last 17 years.
The activation report for this afternoon’s “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” visit to The Cloud can be found on the relevant webpage. I shall see if I can be nice and disciplined now (like several other respected activators), and update my website/blog every time I do a SOTA and simply post the links on here. (As opposed to writing the report directly on here then some months later copying & pasting into my website!)
An update of the six local activations from the past two days. Some nice photos taken by my XYL Marianne during today’s 18km circular route, on the Shining Tor page.
Gun G/SP-013 - Gun SP-013 - Many activations.
The Cloud G/SP-015 - The Cloud SP-015 - Many activations.
Kinder Scout G/SP-001 - Kinder Scout SP-001 - New circular route from Peep-O-Day.
Disgwylfa Fawr GW/MW-038 - Disgwylfa Fawr MW-038 - New summit for us, and our final GW summit.
Great Orme GW/NW-070 - Great Orme NW-070 - A day out at the seaside!
Good luck tomorrow Martin. I don’t see any alerts, so I wonder where you’re heading? Wherever it is, there’s at least one webpage on my website for it, now that we’ve finished GW!
The weather certainly isn’t playing ball here. It’s 70cm contest night - but it’s dark, it’s grey, it’s raining heavily and I’m hearing thunder.
This couldn’t be more different to the forecast as it stood only 6 hours ago. Thanks but no thanks. Have just disconnected shack antennas, so no guarantee that I’ll even be QRV from home this evening now.
Great walk on Kinder Scout G/SP-001 this morning though with Marianne. Glad we both got out early and enjoyed the good weather that the day offered before the current misery!
Yes I do want to revive this topic. Yes I do realise that the previous post was over 1 year ago. Thanks for asking Discourse, but I’m good ta.
Indeed, I’ve found myself in that position, yet again, where i have several hundred activation reports to catch up with for my website. I’ve made a start by completing everything up to the end of last year (2021).
57 points worth of activations shoe-horned into the final four days of the year. All available mainly resulting from the combination of Lockdown and travel restrictions in the first half of the year, and working away at sea in the second!
The update period being covered comprises over 100 different summits and 37 new uniques - so 37 completely new webpages. The summit to which you refer will also make an appearance or two.
Another bunch of old activation reports and photos added to the website. These from April and May 2022.
The Cloud SP-015 - 12 activations added. The apparent gurning competition in which the only entrant (and winner) is me - is entirely unintentional. My unreserved apologies.
This was a day between gigs on the Isle of Wight. I didn’t have my car with me, but managed to use a day rover ticket and a combination of five buses and longer walks than usual - to successfully activate both summits on the island. In lovely photogenic weather too - probably one of the best activating days I’ve had in the 22 years of SOTA so far!
Cross Fell NP-001 - This was my participation in the SOTA feature broadcast nationally on BBC1, on the Countryfile programme. I’ve included links to video of the item as broadcast on TV, and that by Richard @G3CWI which satirises some of the pedantic criticism noted on a local net the following morning!
