Lleyn peninsular trip

I had been meaning to mop up the five 1 pointer uniques (to me) on the Lleyn for quite some time. I regret not doing them the time we had the SOTA BBQ there, prefering the higher scoring Snowdonia summits. The wx forecast looked good for Sunday 27 July so I decided it was now or never. I set the alarm for 0510, but woke up at 0430 & got up. It`s quite a long drive so I headed for the first summit, being qrv by 0657 UTC.

Summits activated :-
GW/NW-067 Moel-y-gest (worst summit of the 5)
GW/NW-066 Garn Boduan (impressive old fortifications)
GW/NW-058 Carn Fadryn (long climb in the heat)
GW/NW-068 Carneddol (boring but easy summit)
GW/NW-064 Mynydd Rhiw (almost a drive on with fantastic views)

I wanted to do G/NW-056 on the way home but time beat me & I didn`t get home until 2220. Wildlife seen :- Ravens, Choughs, 3 adders, numerous slow worms.
Many thanks to all who called, a few pics on flikr, however it was very hazy restricting the visibility.

It’s a good VHF contest site for reasonably QRO operations. Rare-ish square helps make people (that’s them SE of IO91 land) point at the NW of the UK.
