Lebanon - our first Asian Association

SOTA takes a step into a new continent with the accession of SOTA-Lebanon on 1st September 2008. Our first Asian Association, the brainchild of John OD5RW, has been several years in preparation, interrupted by the recent war, but has finally reached fruition.

There are four Regions, but the summit lists containing just sixteen reference numbers are known to be incomplete, with only the most accessible so far included.

There exists a keen nucleus of SOTA enthusiasts, but do not expect a great rush of Lebanese activations. In addition to the usual hazards of combining radio and mountains, Lebanon has the additional problem of significant tracts of un-cleared landmines in certain areas, meaning that every successful activation will be a significant achievement. Furthermore, being so far from the current epicentre of SOTA activity, there will be no ready-made pool of activators just waiting to visit.

Good luck to all of our new friends in SOTA-Lebanon. We look forward to hearing you.
