The oft-repeated grumble about SOTA activators never doing VHF SSB anymore has resurfaced recently. This despite the fact I alone put on about 200 VHF SSB SOTA QSOs every month as an activator!
But it may be the last chance to catch me doing so tonight, for a little while anyway. I will be QRV, whatever the weather (and it doesn’t look brilliant) between 1900 and 2130 UTC (8pm tp 10.30pm local) on 70cm SSB this evening.
And then on Thursday morning I am off to the hospital to have my long-anticipated brain surgery on Friday. I have absolutely no idea how the recovery/convalescence will work out afterwards, so when I’ll be activating again I do not know. Sadly, the Backpackers on Sunday doesn’t look so viable!
I hope to work lots of chasers, as well as the regular contesters (especially all the Travelling Wave CG members that are on here) tonight.
In reply to M1EYP:
I won’t be near a radio this evening, otherwise I would have liked a 1st 70cm SSB contact. I’m sure there will be another opportunity to work you before too long.
All the best for Friday hope all goes well. Hope that it’s not too long before you’re back on the hills I sure I speak for many that in the meantime you’ll be sorely missed.
