Hi
Has anybody tested both radios? What are the technical differences? Is there a test report of the BCR (the KX1 was tested by the arrl)?

I use the KX1 for most of my activations and have been very pleased with it. I have the auto ATU (which I think is a must)with the add-on 30m. I am waiting for the 80m option to arrive.

Having built the K2 and several other Elecraft kits I can say that the quality and back up of Elecraft products is first class. Also consider the slightly bigger K1.

tnx fer answ. I have the ft-817 and the K1. The ft is smaller and more universal but heavier and has a higher power consumption (this was a problem at my last sota activity…). I think the K1 and KX1 are in power consumption and receiver quality (filter, sensitivity, dynamic range) not so different…(I haven’t a KX1 - so I’m not sure).
