I’ve asked Mike 4 times on here and once by email what he was using
for an RF earth and he has not answered other than showing what he
used to bleed static from the antenna. It’s a fairly good bet that
there is no RF earth per se

I wonder where the static discharge goes? I have written several articles over many years on the design and use of kite antennas - most recently on my SOTAbeams facebook page. You might find them instructive Mike?

Thanks for the link Richard, I will take a look. I’ve been using counterpoise wires attached to the balun with good reults and no RF feedback. Yesterday, a combination of very wet conditions on The Cloud and what may be water ingress somewhere. added to this, I made changes to the counterpoise wires that were working very well. Sadly, I didnt follow the *If it aint broke, don`t fix it* rule :frowning:

Not quite back to the drawing board, but more testing seems to be in order.
