My plans for tomorrow have been thrown into disarray. Was hoping to set off early, unfortunately have been called up to do the School run tomorrow morning and after 10 years of faithful service my car has decided it wants a new alternator, so I have no idea what time I will be getting on the road.
Am staying in Keld, so will have plenty of time for the activation once I get there.
If there is a phone signal I will self spot, otherwise I will on or near SOTA frequencies.
Must be alternator season Dave - my car’s in as well for repair to the same component. Hope it gets sorted quickly for you and that you have time to enjoy the summit. It is one of my favourites, probably on account of the fact that I overcame its reputation for being a poor VHF site.
In reply to G4OIG:
Hi Gerald
managed to get the car fixed today instead of tomorrow and wangled my way out of the school run so if i can manage to get off in time, hopefully will be on the summit around 1100z
Excellent. I’ve got to pick up my car about 08:30z and then go to a job, but should be back in time to look for you. Let’s hope that the bands are working okay. Have a safe journey.
I won’t be around to chase you on Thursday but I am off work on Friday & notice you have alerted for G/NP-014 Rogan’s Seat. That is one of the few NP’s I still have to chase so I will certainly be listening for you on 5MHz. I assume your usual QRG of somewhere around 5.260 +/-?
Yes, will be giving SSB a try. My microphone has been faulty and have replaced the original insert with an Electret one. Don’t know yet if it has been successful, at least there is an indication on the front panel meter now but what the audio is like, if there is any, I don’t know yet.
