Is this a record so far?

In fact, let’s do it next weekend - May bank holiday.

I’ll have a punt at that. I’ll have some UHF gear with me for the contest so I’ll be looking for S2S contacts on 70cms/23cms and HF. Maybe Pibble Hill again as it was a smashing little hill.

Something I omitted in my report was the fact that my summit - The Cloud G/SP-015 - has the Gritstone Trail route passing over it. This is a 2/3 day route from Disley to Kidsgrove, and I thought I’d mention it given the “Happy Trails” theme to this years event.

I realise that being on a SOTA summit automatically qualifies me for “Happy Trails” scoring, but thought it worth mentioning that I was on both a SOTA summit AND a walking trail! Does this qualify me for a x4 multiplier?

In fact why not call it “International SOTA Weekend”?

This seems to be a well-kept secret. Maybe a little promotion is in order like we did for QRPTTF. I don’t see anything current on the reflector or in the April newsletter, but perhaps I missed it.

Virtually every weekend has become an “International SOTA Weekend”. The activity levels, and international spread of activity, are regularly at a point we previously only got close to on nominated International SOTA Weekend. With this continued growth and expansion, the need or desire for an officially nominated International SOTA Weekend has become less and less.

Perhaps in the future it should be married up (in terms of dates) to the QRPTTF event, which was clearly very successful.

There are other US events that have lots of synergy with SOTA. FYBO and FotBB spring to mind.
