I am seeing correctly alerted stations appear on the RBN but not then appearing as RBNGate spots - GW4ISJ/P, for example. Does the clockwork need winding-up?

Possibly. It may be a few more hours before Eric KU6J rises from the arms of Morpheus and winds the spring again.

LOL, Morpheus has released me!
It appears that the good folks over at Reverse Beacon Network made a change to their software early this morning (North American time) and their telnet interface now works differently than it did before. That change broke RBNGate, which relies on that interface to receive their spots.
I’m now in the process of figuring out exactly what changed on their side so that I can make complementary changes in the RBNGate code. I have no idea how long this will take. So far I’ve discovered that their login prompt changed (breaking my state machine that handles the telnet handshaking), but there appears to be more to it than that.

Thanks Eric and thanks to Mike for the spots today.
It wasn’t until my second activation today that I realised something was seriously amiss, although it took lots of CQing this morning before I got a bite, which seemed really odd!
I think what made it even worse was that I avoided the normal spot around 7.032 because of the advertised multi tone QRM (even though I couldn’t hear it).
All turned out well in the end but I was getting worried that I was going to go home empty handed!
(although the 10.5 miles today has left me with a couple of nice blisters).
Pete
I made a bunch of code changes and I think I now have RBNGate working with the new software that Reverse Beacon Network rolled out last night. I can’t tell for sure because there are no activators on CW or PSK at the moment. Dan NA6MG has an activation scheduled for 2000z so I should know for sure then.

Why not put up a fake alert for Mt Whitney on 160 meters CW and call CQ Sota on 30?
Elliott, K6EL
In reply to K6ILM:
Good idea Elliott, but I put in an alert for VK9/NO-001 and called CQ on 80m. I figured that no one will try to work Norfolk Island on 80m at this time.
It worked and NC7J heard me, RBNGate is back in business!

My DX Suite SpotCollector program is not able to telnet to the Reverse Beacon network today !
In reply to G0LGS:
That doesn’t surprise me. The changes they made over at RBN were pretty significant. Your program’s author has their work cut out for them.

I looked on the RB website, but I don’t see anything on there suggesting things have changed !

I didn’t see anything there either.
The change seems to be that they are now generating the telnet feed by using AR-cluster software. I don’t know how they were generating it before, but it worked differently.
If the software you are using has an ‘AR-Cluster client mode’, then you may just be able to enable it and all will be fine. RBNGate had no such mode so I actually had to re-code a bunch of stuff.
FYI here is the login text that you now receive when you connect to telnet.reversebeacon.net on port 7000, but contrary to what it says, the skimmer spots appear to be defaulted ON instead of OFF:

Oddly it seems to have started working again without any changes or updates.
