Mine has too. Sadly it doesn’t seem to have any suppression fitted or an antenna. FM is perfect. DAB is DAB, no more need be said.
It would be nice to have a similar law as that in the USA passed in the EU and UK:

When I started dabbling in radio, in the 1960s, I was salvaging components from old broadcast receivers. Maybe next we’ll be building broadcast receivers using parts salvaged from old amateur radio gear
No need for that. I opened up my rigs to get on 60m, I can now receive on all the BC bands. If it becomes necessary it is easier to snip a diode or change a few blobs of solder than to build a BC receiver! (Might be fun, though - I haven’t played with a reaction control for many years!)
Personally, I love to listen to the old fashioned MW/LW BC radio. It is still pretty much alive, although mostly UK and Spainish stations heard here on the EI East coast. After RTE1 was taken off air, Radio Algerie on 252 kHz 2000km away is one of my favorites on LW though.
Few month ago I’ve made recordings how BC bands looks in EI, so take a look:
MW band
LW band
BTW, the radio is 70 years old Telefunken Opus 6
73 de EI4JY, Alex
Nice video and radio! They certainly don’t make ‘em like they used to!
Surprisingly, I prefer to listen to the BC stations on this Telefunken rather than on TS-870 or FT-1000 That brings some completely different athmosphere in to the house. Although with any power outage Telefunken goes out first
Nice! I struggle to pick up 198 and 252 LW for some reason. Yet on the other hand, I could hear a voice rag chew on 40m last night between someone in Newfoundland and someone in Spain. This was on my little Tecsun PL-330.
Radio can be a bizarre thing.
Hi Ian, I too can’t hear a thing on MW/LW when connectted to my HF aerial (that is okay though as my HF antenna is indoors). Telefunken’s loopstick is useless too, it only picks up our local RFI. That was an active loop that made a game change, I guess something similar should work at your QTH.
Was it home made? Whats your setup for SWLing?
Yeah, home made. Small loops for VLF/LW/MW and lower HF (1.8 - 5.3) For the rest is my window frame loop, which is also my main TX aerial. See my qrz.com for details
Active loops are on the pic, the white one is exclusively for my VLF project, working 24/7
The bigger one is still in experimental state, covers LW - 5.3 MHz
On the background you can see my main HF aerial wire
I was without power and internet for about 12 hours. Since we are in a semi-rural area, we always keep batteries charged and other essentials at hand, like some extra packages of dry and canned food. Learned that lesson during the first days of covid. I did power up my station with a battery and had a solar panel and charger at hand, ready to install if the outage lasted longer. It was nice to hear the HF bands very clear of noises and qrm, for a change. I did monitor some HF emergency frequencies, but not much was going on.
IMHO, regarding broadcast radio as an emergency information tool, we had only two FM national stations on the air. The local FM stations going dark very quickly was, as far as I am concerned, the worse of this whole thing, since we were in the dark about news and advisories from local authorities. I’m not sure as far as the return of LW and MW stations, but I think that local FM with power backup should be addressed, in the future.

Mentioning local FM stations: Few years ago Bosnian HAM emergency team presented to Slovenian HAM emergency teams (ARON) an idea about micro FM transmitters in order to swiftly establish information spreading from local authorities.
In my QTH, the power supply often fails, especially in winter. We are ready!
Since this time there was no electricity within a radius of a few hundred kilometers, I took the opportunity to HF RX tests.
The result was amazing, there was no noise on the radio, better than when I do more isolated activations!!! I had a great time!
In town nothing on LW… countryside: stations at 162 (or around), 198, 225 (or around) and 252. MW even t in town full. Nice clear signal in the countryside.
Near powerlines nothing on LW. Strong disturbances.
