For my first summit since lockdown I decided to activate my local summit accompanied by my two daughters. Made a handful of contacts on 20 & 30m and just one on 2m FM. I had to move frequency a bit on 20m as it was quite busy around 14.061. I did try a S2S but wasn’t heard, the AA batteries for my MTR v2 were a bit run down.

It was very warm and hardly a breeze. I was surprised that we didn’t see any dog walkers that often frequent this wooded summit.

It was interesting to see parts of the aircraft that crashed in 1947 near the summit were placed around the memorial.

I saw reports today that there had been parking problems at Moel Famau NW-044 due to the large number of visitors. Not only Snowdon that’s having parking issues at the moment.

Hi Roger,
thanks for the info on the GW SOTA Facebook page, will certainly join it as EI/IE SOTA to NW always very good on 2m. By the same token check out the SOTA Ireland Facebook page which covers both EI & GI activity.

Thanks Declan, will do. Hopefully get some EI/GI contacts in the log when I’m back in Snowdonia.
