GW/NW-024 Trum y Ddysgl - no HF - sorry

Yesterday I alerted for Trum y Ddysgl and set off with all the gear hoping to run on 24MHz. But it was not to be! The wind was too strong for a proper antenna.

Apologies for that and for the strong wind noise on 2-m FM. Also I managed to give the wrong summit number for the first two QSOs! What’s more I was having phone trouble and couldn’t self-spot.

Many thanks to all the callers on 2m.

Route posted on the maps site.

Reading that gave me a wry smile…

The trials and tribulations of activating in the British winter.

Well done for keeping going.

Great write up, I love to visit Beddgelert Forest and hope to follow your footsteps, albeit in better weather

Thank you.

The camp site in the forest seems like it should be a good base. Two SOTAs right on your door step AND a halt on the Welsh Highland Railway to get to lots more.

When I’ve worked on the track there early in the morning the aroma of bacon frying has been quite something!
