Nice walk to GW/NW-028 Pen Llithrig y Wrach, hardly a cloud in the sky. I wanted to use my QMX with the latest firmware on CW, SSB & FT4 to see how it performed on these different modes. I was using a dipole for the 20m band.
I made 34 QSO’s including S2S with M0JIA/P, IK2LEY/P and OE5REO/P and found the little QMX performed very well on each mode. I was using iFTx on my iPhone for data, it was easy to save the data log to my mobile then add the data log to my logging programme PoLo (Ham2K).
PoLo logging just gets better and better. I followed up with 2m FM on the handie for the locals.
Onto the next summit, GW/NW-028 Craigiau Gleision. Here I just used CW and 2m FM, 15 QSO’s including S2S with F/HB9JOE/P, F/DL6GCA/P and again IK2LEY/P. Tom MM1EYP/P called for a S2S but the signal strength just wasn’t strong enough to make the contact unfortunately.
After a quick spell on 2m FM I packed up and made my way back down to my car.
