Just a quick note to alert members that may be heading for the Lakes that there will be an event held on the 5th May involving the summit Great Gable LD-005 and surrounding area of Wasdale.
Details as below:
The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA) will mark its 60th anniversary on 5th May for those who voluntarily give up their time to help sick and injured walkers and assist emergency services.
The association, the umbrella body for 12 mountain rescue teams operating across Cumbria, is organising a re-enactment of a rescue that took place on Great Gable in 1946.
Cumbrian mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington is among the guests due to join the celebrations in a rather unusual role as a casualty.
Following the fell-top exercise on May 5, celebrations will continue in the Wasdale Head Inn in an invitation-only event.
