Gd-002 - what a cracking walk, loved every minute of it.
Gd-004 - what a horrible walk, hated every minute of it. Mind you the hayfever probably clouded my assessment of it. Then again it was probably the narrow steep ascent route through head high vegetation that caused the hayfever, so the hill deserves to be hated.
I noted the wall section suggested by G4RQJ but the coast path section posed me no problems.
Having a look around Ramsey, where I actually used to live many years ago! Wx seems stable so hopefully alerts for gd005 tonight (are you watching mickey? ) and gd001 tomorrow will be honoured. Drove past snaefell today on the a18 mountain road of tt fame and it looks a very simple proposition.
Excellent day on snaefell, 102 qsos with the lion’s share being on 12m. I suspected things were on good shape when I opened with a pile up on 12m psk31 and a run of 20 qsos on that mode!
Highlight of the day was ed 2e0nsr successfully working his grandad roy g1nus on 40m ssb. Also good was the grub in the summit restaurant - recommended.
Now, to business. Despite us putting on no less than six activations of mull hill gd005 between us so far, mickey 2e0yyy has yet to get his yearned for s2s contact. So Mike, when in the next two days would be convenient, and what band do you reckon? 40m ssb?
The Macclesfield SOTA IOTA DXpedition Team will be happy to help.
Needless to say Jimmy was fast out of the traps today and ensured that he had 4 contacts in the bag before I had even got one. This may need verification, and of course is subject to any retrospective claims that may come in. But is Jimmy the first to have activated all 5 highest summits of the 5 uk associations?
To be honest I would have expected better of two current and one former member of MT. You guys need to grow up.
It is still raining here and I am rather inclined to revert to the sleeping bag right now. I don’t know how long you intend staying on SP004 Mike but maybe catch you around noon local.
In reply to MM0FMF:
I know Andy. And there’s no excuse as there is a Bluetooth keyboard in my rucksack - part of the PSK31 portable set up. Just can’t be bothered fishing it out.
The keypad on my Android phone is a pain. I always hit the wrong keys and then it autocorrects to something not at all what I typed. The pad on the Nexus 7 is much, much better. I really need to install one of the swipe-n-type keyboards rather than use the stroke-n-poke one that comes as standard.
Hope it was worth the wait and the soaking Mickey. We had a surprisingly pleasant activation with good numbers of callers on 40 and 12 although Jimmy reported that 2 was disappointing. He did however work the first GD any of us had worked on the holiday!
Some of the usual suspects qrming again because they can’t hear the activator and can’t hear what his instructions are. It is fairly easy to cope with this as an activator but some of you chasers must be pulling your hair out at two or three stations in particular!

Yeah, the sun came out later and once the mist rose off the summit, I was finally able to get a signal on the mobile.
Tried to work you on 12m but couldn’t hear a thing.
The rig is going to the club tonight for a quick check up.
Heard nothing from Jimmy on 2m, but managed to work you all on 40m to complete the GD set all s2s.
