Gaulfest 2025 - Monday 29th December 2025

I could, possibly, make this one, family Xmas activities permitting, Ive already done most of the summits close to Church Stretton this year with the exception of Callow Hill, so that would be my choice in order to make it in time for tea & cake at Mr Bun’s.

I’ll keep an eye on the weather….

Hoping to attend, unsure of summit yet.

29th currently looks like it will work for me.

Have alerted for Great Rhos - Rhos Fawr. Weather permitting, plan to park myself on the summit for a while working as many people as possible on 2M. Then whizz down on the bike and head over to Mr Bun.

Sadly I now can’t make the 29th, apologies. I have withdrawn my activation for G/WB-006 so if anyone else fancies the steep 1 pointer with excellent VHF take off, it’s yours. Hope you all have a good time and the buns are excellent!

Hi @M0HGY Jimmy & @M1EYP Tom,

I have family plans around Gaulfest, so I don’t think I’ll be able to meet up at Mr Bunn the baker’s in the afternoon. I will try and get out on a summit throughout the day for a S2S if I get the chance :+1:

im going to be on a couple of G/SP summits on the day for some summit to summit….. G/SP-005 pendle hill and then G/SP-007 Fair snape fell. Obviously all weather dependant but it’ll be great to work some S2S

I’ve alerted for Brown Clee Hill G/WB-002. I’ll bring 4m and 23cm (both FM), as well as HF, as long as you remember to charge the batteries on your 4m radio @MW0PJE

Sorry chaps, my relatives and their germs (i.e. Noravirus) have put and end to my plans for Monday.

Can someone please post the address of “Mr Bun The Baker” for those of us that don’t know where it is.

An idea of the time people are likely to be there would also be useful.

I’m going to have a very long drive home after activation/socialisation and won’t be able to stay very late/long.

Hi Collin

Address for Mr Bun 12 Sandford Ave, Church Stretton SY6 6BW

Approx where the blue circle is, likely to be on street parking nearby (screen shot from Streetmap UK):

I’m not sure whether I can make it yet, but still hoping to…

Thanks Adrian, I did find the location, but the timing was also an important consideration since I’ll be driving back to ‘FlatLand’ (Cambridge) afterwards.

It involves finding and organising some kit that hasn’t been out for a while, but I’m hoping to have 2M SSB and CW as a warm-up for the 2026 challenge.

Would be great to work others, whether it’s S2S or chasers at home!

I’ve alerted for Beacon Hill gw/mw-009, 2m FM. I’m just taking a handheld and a wire Jpole to keep things light and simple.

The QMX might tag along, but HF is unlikely unless the summit is much warmer than I expect!

Looking forward to it :+1:

I will be out and about in the Arenigs tomorrow - GW/NW-011 and then GW/NW-018. Perhaps GW/NW-048 if I make (very) good time. Elecraft KX2 on 40m and 20m and VX6 for 2m. Hoping to catch some S2S’s

Me and my dad Tom @M1EYP are setting off just now for Gaulfest.

Just a reminder that Gaulfest is happening today with SOTA activations taking place in Shropshire and Mid Wales and there will be a meet up at 3pm today at Mr Bun The Baker in Church Stretton. See you all later.

Nice to work some of you guys this morning, I was in work but have an Icom 2820 on my desk and a Colinear on the side of the office.

Will keep an eye out for this time next year and try to get out on the hills too.
