Glad you had a good day despite the cold!
Have you tried a bothy bag rather than the windbreak?
It has the advantage of zero setup time and, being totally enclosed, much much warmer. Not that we’ll need such stuff now until next winter

…a bothy bag - or a tent?
If it is a bothy bag, then with a bit of practise you can find ways of tucking some of it in under your legs, rucksack etc, so that the sides around you become taut and don’t flap in the wind so much.
Mine is a 4-6 man size bothy bag, and I can even tuck that one in quite well to avoid it causing a din in the wind.

Hi Darius,
nice activation even in such difficult conditions. Thanks for sharing pictures and videos. I actually think that PSK31 at -5.5C it’s not for me, my fingers could easily freeze before finish the first QSO, hi!
@G4ISJ: It’s the first time I hear of these bothy bags, they seem pretty cool, quick to setup and providing enough protection against strong wind and rain, I’ve seen several videos of people using hiking sticks to stabilize the structure, definitely something to try next winter.
