G/SE-008 & Joining SOTA Family

This (I think) is my first post and finally thanks to a friend on Isle of Wight activated my first SOTA.

Report here G/SE-008 St. Boniface Down IoW

Getting there was easy as roads right up to summit and was a nice day (not too warm or cold).

Already looking for next one more local, but as I don’t drive, will be Public Transport and at least 2 hours to get there.

Hi Paul, welcome to SOTA, I should warn you it gets addictive.
If you search in the Reflector there is a thread regarding SOTA by public transport that might help (from Chris 2M0PVP/MM7RLY).

Congratulations on your first SOTA activation, Paul!

Hopefully the first of many, and look forward to getting you in the log one day soon.

Welcome to the “Hotel California” world of SOTA activating Paul!

One of my best days of SOTA in recent years was doing the two IOW summits by public transport.

From your QTH in Kent, I’m guessing the likes of Detling Hill G/SE-013, Botley Hill G/SE-005, Crowborough G/SE-007, Leith Hill G/SE-002 and the string of South Downs summits - Wilmington Hill G/SE-011, Firle Beacon G/SE-010, Cliffe Hill G/SE-014, Ditchling Beacon G/SE-006, Chanctonbury Ring G/SE-009, Black Down G/SE-003, Butser Hill G/SE-004 - are next on your radar.

Have fun!
