Following-up the question in article https://reflector.sota.org.uk/t/planned-sota-activations-in-ha-oct-2025-help-needed/39212 S50TD and I activated 5 summits.
Traveling from Ljubljana to Miskolc on the first day (October 25th) we first activated HA/EM-001 (Kékes), for which it sorted out it is also the highest summit in HA. We almost failed our activation due to high contest activity on 20m and rain. Then (with some help of S55VN) we found less occupied part of the 40m band around 7.1 MHz.
We activated HA/EM-002 (Galya-tetö) on same day using the same – 40m – band with some more luck of weather.
Suitable parking places for both activations are so obvious, that we haven’t recorded a path to them.
On the next day (Sunday) we first activated HA/EM-081 (Nagy-Som-hegy). We recorded the path and took some photos along it on sotl.as in order to be of some help for next activators. At first we started with a tactics from the day before (40m and some luck), then we succeeded to answer on some contest related CQ calls on 20m.
Then we tried to activate HA/EM-084, however the forest road to the starting point did not inspire confidence that our car would be able to handle it. So we returned to Bükkszentereszt and directed ourselves to HA/EM-013. Again, we recorded our path to summit with some photos and track on sotl.as. We first tried activation with somehow less dense 40m band and then continued to 20m, did one QSO on 80m (testing new coil) and returned to do some more QSOs on 20m band.
The third day (Monday) was a SOTA day-off, partially due to not so good weather forecast and partially because we needed to join our wives visiting Miskolc.
On fourth day, we first needed to drive almost 70km to starting point to HA/EM-003 on Bükk plato. Driving to the starting point we faced some issue how to pass a parking place in Szilvásvárad. However, a nice police officer saved our day when explained, that we need to enter through the ramp into parking place and pay 3.000ft for a driving ticket for Bűkk plato. Then we need to continue using the newly obtained ticket through second ramp for another twelve kilometres to starting point. For the return, we used same (newly obtained) ticket to leave parking place.
Enjoying nice (but cold) autumn morning we recorded two paths from starting point to the Istállös-kö (HA/EM-003). Activation on 40m and 20m was fairly easy. It took less than hour of the activation for 28 QSOs.
Returning to Miskolc we tried to activate also Nagy-Hárs (HA/EM-077) however we were unable to properly read the traffic sign which forbids all traffic and afterwards with additional plate explains the driving is possible on our own responsibility. It turned out our Hungarian reading skills are useless without internet signal HI.
In all four days, we didn’t manage to do a single QSO on VHF/UHF neither with a Hungarian call sign. Nevertheless, we were quite satisfied as we managed to win 42 activator points and some S2S too and we certainly enjoyed autumn beech forests in Bükk national park.
