First Activation of Ortles I / AA-001 3,905 NN 08/20/2020 highest mountain of Central Alps.
On August 19, 2020, from the starting point in Sulden, it went up to the Bayerhütte at 3,029 m. The next morning at 6 a.m., with low temperatures and fog, we climbed further towards the summit. It went over the technically demanding “Wantl” to the Bärenloch, where the glacier begins.
We reached the summit at 9.40 am. Clock and were lucky enough to find it cloud-free and were able to enjoy the sun and the good view.
During the stay on the summit I was able to connect 10 different radio amateurs on 145,500 FM.
