Final large GW adventure completed for 2022 :)

Hi guys,

I’d just like to give a heads up on my last large GW adventure for the year of 2022. If successful on this day, it will result in all GW summits activated for me. Please find below my agenda for this coming Saturday 3rd September:

  1. Mynydd Twyn-glas GW/SW-019 at approx 05:45 UTC
  2. Mynydd y Glyn GW/SW-027 at approx 07:45 UTC
  3. Cefn Eglwysilan GW/SW-025 at approx 09:15 UTC
  4. Garth Hill GW/SW-034 at approx 10:45 UTC
  5. Craig yr Allt GW/SW-037 at approx 12:00 UTC
  6. Mynydd y Lan GW/SW-024 at approx 13:30 UTC
  7. Mynydd Machen GW/SW-030 at approx 14:45 UTC
  8. Wentwood GW/SW-033 at approx 17:00 UTC

I will operate on 60/40/20 SSB and 2m FM. All above times are in UTC and I will try to stick to them as best as I can. I will also spot on every frequency I call out on. It would be great to work some stations throughout the day from this great supportive SOTA community!

Note that there is a major RSGB HF SSB contest on this weekend starting on Sat afternoon and running 24 hours till Sunday afternoon.

There is also a concurrent 2m contest, although the FM section probably won’t be affected much.

Many thanks for the heads up. If its starting PM, I should be ok. At least I shouldn’t struggle to get 4 itl

Might be worth reading the comp rules to see what the exchange is, much more chance of completing a QSO if you can give them the details they need 1st time.

I stay clear of contest stations when I’m on summit, it was just a joke stating I should get 4 itl. Hopefully I’ll find a clear frequency if the contest has begun while I’m on a summit. Thanks for the heads up :+1:

I believe that you will not be celebrating your GW SOTA completion of successful on Saturday Ben until you’ve activated Bryn Y Fan GW/MW-018 due to this after Saturday being the only GW SOTA summit that you have not activated in 2022.

Hi @M0HGY Jimmy, I put an alert up for GW/MW-018 yesterday to activate tonight (Thursday 1st Sept) due to needing Sunday off for other reasons - so if all goes to plan, it’ll be completed :+1:

Hi Ben,

Likes like I missed that alert. Hope if all successful by Saturday evening, you will be the first ever person to activate all the GW SOTA summits in one calendar year which will be a big achievement.

Congratulations to Ben GW4BML who is now the first ever SOTA activator to activate all the SOTA summits in GW within a single calendar year. This is a massive achievement and I now challenge you to activate all the G SOTA summits within a single calendar year as this hasn’t been done yet.

HF conditions very poor today - well done for sticking with it !
Congratulations on the achievement, Ben, I can’t actually relate to what that took

Respect! As said, conditions were poor today and I didn’t hear a single sound in the 4 hours on DM/NS-122 today.

Have a good rest,

Hi Ben. Many congratulations on your incredible(/mad?) dash round 8 summits today and thus completing all GW in much less than one year. Sorry you didn’t hear me on Carneddau (GW/MW-023 near Builth Wells) when I tried for a s2s but you were rather intermittent to me so it would have been a challenge. I could hear G0RQL and GW6OVD working you much better than I could hear you - presumably a better path and probably more power.
The rain didn’t reach us on either summit (also GW/MW-022) but I think you may have been in the firing line. Hope the ankle held up well today and that you will let it (and you!) have a rest for at least a few hours!!
