Favourite 1-pointer activation?

I haven’t visited and activated that many 1-point locations yet. But I do remember the Nußlberg DL/MF-115. The hike there with a Thule and children was quite a challenge for us. But once we reached the top, it was really beautiful. The summit is definitely worth recommending. There is plenty of space and it doesn’t seem to be too crowded.

The wayside crosses along the way were eye-catching.

Pualco Range vk5/ne-107 is a great summit once you get there.
Its the furthest summit east of my home I visit. Special permission is required to visit there as its a closed conservation area and we cross 3 properties to get there with maybe 10 gates to open and close. Once in the park its a further 25 km to drive to the park up spot. The summit is a steep rocky climb up and a good view out east which is the flat salt bush plain heading to the Murray River.

Sounds a lot, but isn’t a lot for Wales, I guess.

Craigendarroch GM/ES-078 because it’s in Ballater, I can cycle to it and it has a lovely summit. Tea and cake waiting after descent. There are half a dozen cafes to choose from.

SOTA summits in towns are novel. I also enjoy GM/SS-272 Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh, however not at the moment, as it is up in flames.

Lots of thick smoke coming from Arthur’s seat yesterday afternoon, I saw it from the harbour at Granton. Hope it doesn’t end up like Knock of Braemoray which still smelt of smoke weeks later.

VK6/SW-056 is one with fine views over the Southern Ocean. Here’s my activation report:

In Switzerland, there are some beautiful lowland summits along the Jura massif with imposing rocks and fantastic views… especially in winter, when the Mittelland is shrouded in a sea of clouds and the Alps appear distinct and close enough to touch.

For example:

Hi Romain,

TK/TK-124, Capu di l’Argentella was definitely my most impressive 1-pointer. My other hobby is mineralogy, and an old silver mine on the way up is a nice bonus. But the climb is a real challenge, and it’s not for nothing that the summit book has been up there since 1993, and there are still many empty pages. And 141 QSOs with 5 watts also made me happy.
Mountain radio is truly awesome. 73 Olaf dl7cx
