F/CR-334 06/11/24 3rd time

Hi all,

Last week (05/11) was ready to go for F/CR-237 but the rain and some cramps made me postpone this activation.
The next day the sky was gray but no rain was forecast, I changed to F/CR-334 - ND des Anges, easier to activate.

My goal was to try my new KX3 and test the JPC-12 vertical antenna on 28Mhz.

Thanks portable-antennas - Welcome

55 QSOs were made on all bands between 28 and 7 MHz and 2 on VHF in 1h33 :+1:
Band changes are not automatic since you have to go to the tuning coil to make them, this is the only drawback of this antenna. This remains quite fast if you have identified the frequencies on this coil in advance, I didn’t do 60m, I forgot to take the 5m telescopic section.

Crazy RBN

The KX3 test was convincing for me, especially in CW. With its 10 watts and its ATU and very good reception. On the other hand in SSB I had not made the settings correctly, I called over 40m without success. I have not tried the 144Mhz which the device is equipped with. I still have to practice at home to master the different menus and functions.

A very good day in this region rich in SOTA summits !

Salut Eric

Great to see you outdoors - back again!

A friend from here had activated the mentioned Mt-Ventoux some months back, riding there even up and down his racing bike like the Tour de France pros!

Looking forward to hear you also chasing from home!

Did you check your Power on SSB? Were you on the right side band (USB/LSB)? The KX3 (as well as the KX2) is quite foolproof when it comes to SSB. And it seems you had pretty good band conditions…

Bsr Romain,

I had programmed all the bands, VFO A in CW and VFO B in SSB, taking into account of course the LSB mode on the low bands except the 60m (USB).
The KX3 output give me 10 watts in SSB but I was talking about gain adjustments which I did not make !
