Csv file upload error

Hi,
I was trying to upload my chaser log last night but always get the error:
“One or more errors were detected in the CSV file. These are highlighted in red in the table above.”

Looking at the errors highlighted in red, these are date and/or time data.
I am not able to figure out what’s wrong because the csv file seems OK.

Here is the example of 5 lines, 3 of which are shown as errors in the uploaded table:
This is what the server returns as error in ‘red’ (lines 2,3 and 4):
OK1CZ 11/May/2010 13:35 GW/MW-007 14MHz CW GW8OGI/P
OK1CZ 11/May/2010 ‘09:51’ S5/JA-035 7MHz CW S53X/P
OK1CZ 11/May/2010 ‘09:49’ GW/MW-001 7MHz CW GW8OGI/P
OK1CZ ‘10/May/2010’ 16:15 HA/KM-029 7MHz CW HA7UL/P
OK1CZ 10/May/2010 14:10 OK/US-006 7MHz CW OK1DSX/P

and these are the same lines in my csv file:
OK1CZ,11/05/10,1335,GW/MW-007,14.0MHz,CW,GW8OGI/P
OK1CZ,11/05/10,0951,S5/JA-035,7.0MHz,CW,S53X/P
OK1CZ,11/05/10,0949,GW/MW-001,7.0MHz,CW,GW8OGI/P
OK1CZ,10/05/10,1615,HA/KM-029,7.0MHz,CW,HA7UL/P
OK1CZ,10/05/10,1410,OK/US-006,7.0MHz,CW,OK1DSX/P

Any idea anyone what can be wrong?

Thanks

Hi Peter

It seems that the time fields are in a wrong format, and they are between quotes
Which soft do you use ?

In reply to F6ENO:

Alain,
The text in quotes is not my csv file. It is what the server returns. It shows the errors in quotes and in red.

My text in csv is shown on the 5 lines below and it is, as I beleive, in exactly the same format as the database requires.
I wonder why it is OK on one line and wrong on another line when both lines are the same format…

BTW I generate the list from Swisslog and edit/rearrange in Excel.

In reply to OK1CZ:

Peter,

have you tried to upload the contacts in reversal order, the oldest first? In some dark rememberings I can recall a similar issue I once stumbled over…

73 Bernhard DL4CW

In reply to DL4CW:

Bernhard is correct, the entries have to be in date/time order.
This file is accepted by the database:

OK1CZ,10-May-10,14:10,OK/US-006,7MHz,CW,OK1DSX/P
OK1CZ,10-May-10,16:15,HA/KM-029,7MHz,CW,HA7UL/P
OK1CZ,11-May-10,09:49,GW/MW-001,7MHz,CW,GW8OGI/P
OK1CZ,11-May-10,09:51,S5/JA-035,7MHz,CW,S53X/P
OK1CZ,11-May-10,13:35,GW/MW-007,14MHz,CW,GW8OGI/P

Hi Andy,

the entries have to be in date/time order.

Is there any reason for the csv file to be in that order ?

Alain F6ENO

In reply to F6ENO:

I don’t know why Alain. Like Berhard, I discovered that they have to be in time order when entering activator CSV files and I assumed this would hold true for chaser entries. I tried using the example and it would not work until they were in order. I normally only work 20 or so contacts on an activation so I type them into the database using the web form. It doesn’t matter what the order is then. But the CSV input will fail if the entries are not in ascending time order.

It’s not a big issue as it only takes a moment to reorder the entries and to resubmit the file.

In reply to DL4CW:

Bernhard and Andy,

You are right, it works in the reverse order.
I also wonder why. For the database it should not be a problem to accept data in any order.

Thanks for the hint.

73 Peter

In reply to MM0FMF:

Of course it is not a problem to reorder the entries but for some one who does not upload the QSOs often and uploads a bigger file after several months, it can take time. So it would be nice to be able to upload in any order.

Just an item for the wish list if the database team considers this relevant.

In reply to OK1CZ:

Well Peter and Andy,

While the database needs data in time/date order, I will modifie ADI2SOTA soft.

73 Alain F6ENO

In reply to F6ENO:

Alain,

I am not familair with the ADI2SOTA. Guess it converts ADIF to SOTA csv file. Could be a useful tool. Is it available from you?

In reply to OK1CZ:

Hi Peter,

You will find it here:

Soon an update version, with some improvements.
