Chasers SLOW Down (Part 2)

I’ve heard arguments [on this reflector] that fast-sending increases their QSO rate and reduces time on summit. I’m not convinced that happens

Nor is it required if you only have to make 4 contacts to qualify your activation. In that regard 30WPM with a lot of repeats will take longer than 18WPM with 0 repeats.

I try to match the activator’s speed, especially if he’s going
real slow. And being familiar with a lot of the activators, I know
who can and who can’t copy fast.
As far as the speedy contest stations, I’ve found that some of them
can’t copy as fast as they can send with their memory keying, and I have to slow it down a bit to get them to answer.
And I doubt if they or too many others are using code readers, because about every code reader I’ve ever tested wouldn’t copy
95 percent of the signals on the bands. The best one I’ve seen is
the G-90, and it will copy something like W1AW, machine sending with a S9 or better signal. Any signal less than that, things start
to get dicey. Computer code readers are worse, and trying to
copy the QRP SOTA stations is hopeless.
Last comment is about QRP. When QRP operating first got to be popular, and I was a young guy in the 1960s, I asked someone on the air what QRP was, he said, “Anything less than 100 watts is QRP”. Times have changed!

I’m not sure if it’s the allure of the 10m challenge but I consistently see these phantom QSO’s on that band in particular. Not even busted calls on my part, outright fabricated contacts they claim I “participated” in.

Maybe it’s the difficult conditions of the DX, chasers think they heard something while you were replying to someone else.
I had to check your log for Black Knob to verify I wasn’t one of the fabricated contacts you mentioned, glad it was real and thanks for the patience.

@IU1KGS I owe you more thanks friend, between my frozen fingers that made sending difficult and my two year old needing help, I needed a lot of repeats. I hated to leave the pile up behind but it became too much to manage in addition to the needs of my little one so I had to QRT rather abruptly.
