Hi,
After a long break from SOTA I finally planned to go onto a summit, this time Gaustatoppen - LA/TM-001. We (this was a family trip) took the Gaustabanen train to the visitor centre near the summit which was an experience in itself, and I started the hike towards the summit from there alone. Difficulty was advertised as moderate, and I had prepared for cold weather by bringing an extra clothing layer. I made the (classic?) mistake of carrying too much gear, guess I forgot how to do SOTA properly hi. About half way on the ridgeline towards the summit I decided it would be safer to return to the visitor centre, as there was a lot of snow and my heavy pack caused stability issues and my progress had been slow. Bummer, but safety first, and I am sure there are more nice summits to explore here in Norway!
The views were magnificent, excellent weather.
