"Call me Al"

In future, I shall give my name as Al as it avoids uncertainties about spelling Alastair or Alasdair or Alistair or Alister or Allaster or … (get the picture!!!) + with much QRM/N then ALPHA LIMA is much quicker and it’s much easier in morse.

PS. I had a great activation on The Wrekin (G/WB-010) over half term with S2S to Shining Tor and Arenig Fawr. I could hear a CQ call from Winter Hill in Lancs but couldn’t get QSO.

I was accused of having a “complicated name” once. I think it makes sense to use Al but it may take a while to get used to.

Hi Al

With my old callsign of M6MMM and my name Mike, there wasn’t too much of a problem with people getting my name wrong.

However, when I attended the Galashiels Rally last year and had to use the call
MM6MMM/M it did become a tad confusing

Yes, nice to work you S2S from G/SP-004 Shining Tor on Saturday.

Yes, someone very quickly called me Delilah, on the VT reapeater.

This Thursday, should be on G/WB-003 Stipperstones, with G1STQ. Perhaps Dave, he’ll remember to charge the batteries for this activation

In my experience Delilah, what you post in public comes around and bites you on the Stiperstones

In reply to G1STQ:

Be careful with what you charge him in case it is perceived as a salt and battery. You might just accumulate some time in a dry cell. On the other hand, think positively!!

Hi Dave.

Seems I’ve got the wrong day for Stipperstones. Should be tomorrow, (wednesday).

I think John will be working 10m, I will probably work VHF.
