Break in the weather - Pressendye GM/ES-047

My second visit to Pressondyne GM/ES-047 which is a lovely 2030ft hill near Tarland in the NE of Scotland. 21 QSO’s, including the local lads of the North East Scotland SOTA massive on VHF. Despite the sudden increase in temperature this week, there was still a bitingly cold wind which got the better of me even in the lee of the snow-filled shelter cairn. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

One of the many fantastic things about SOTA is the people you meet along the way. I had just finished my VHF QSO’s when a chap and his young son arrived and settled in the cairn to eat lunch. They were intrigued by the radio, and we talked long about the mountains, hillwalking, climbing, running and life. I think we were all in our happy place!

You were very lucky with the weather! Horrendous today. Always nice to have a friendly chat with someone who is genuinely interested in what you’re doing.

Sorry to have missed you yesterday from Meikle Says Law, GM/SS-148. I wasn’t paying enough attention to the spots on Sotawatch, although 40m, our most likely contact medium was a bit of a stramash with QSB and contesters yesterday !

Unlike when he speaks to any of us…

Me neither Andy. After I gor the 4 VHF QSO’s I wasn’t going to stay but then I thought I had carried all the kit up the hill I might as well use it!
