It was great to see so many familiar faces at the rally today. Having a stand at Norbreck was one of the first ways in which John G3WGV and I sought to popularise SOTA when we started it so it has a long association with the award.
I never got to the SOTA stand (or even the main hall) this year as I was rather busy. But I still enjoyed some of Audrey’s famous cakes - thanks!
Yes, great day Richard. For us it was good to put a face to so many familiar callsigns.
Having just checked several weather forecasts it looks like our planned activation of Helvellyn will have to wait for another time. Having got completely drenched on Scafell Pike yesterday we really don’t relish the thought of a similar experience tomorrow and then travelling home for another 8 hours afterwards.
Just a brief posting to say thank you on behalf of Steve MW0BBU and myself for the welcome given to us by all the SOTA enthusiasts at the rally. It was a long trek North from home but well worth putting a face to the voice All being well we will make the trip again next year and maybe take in a summit or two next time.
It was great to meet so many SOTA and WOTA friends at the Blackpool Rally, thanks to you all for saying hello, making us feel very welcome and of course feeding us a very large slice of that beautiful cake!
