A lovely place to do SOTA from but http://www.snh.org.uk/hillphones/stalking.asp may be of use as the period you are there is during the Stag Stalking Season.

Its not the stags you need to worry about, or the Gillies that are usually good shots. It’s their clients who, probably have never handled a high power rifle before :-(.
The central hills including Goat fell should be OK and have paths, also the southern middle ones which don’t have paths . Its the north and west ones that will probably have shooting but the hillphone number will advise. Mullach Buidh (sp)on Holy Island has no shooting but ferries outside tourist season are expensive if available at all - you also need to seek permission to operate, from the religious centre.
I’d done most of the Arran hills pre SOTA but I’ve only activated two.
