I am surprised that local stuff doesn’t affect Gerald’s.

built a 2m flowerpot to the design details provided by David G0EVV. Works absolutely fine,

Oddly enough a 2 meter only flower pot works well and with a bit of messing I can do the basic dual band version which both work fairly well but a 70cm only version just didn’t work the match was fine but it was deaf as a post and outward signals suffered so badly that the short rubber duck on the handheld was far superior, I tried reducing choke length increasing it and it was just totally naff . On the dual band version I rapped the choke in insulation tape ( I have to admit cheap stuff) and the SWR went through the roof, much like your heat shrink Mr MM0FMF.

I was warned that some black paint/dyes have some apparent metallic content - can’t remember who informed me, and whether or not it’s valid.

Could it be a thing?
