I have taken the decision to start blogging about some (all?) of my activations and thought perhaps some of you might like to read my first report that is based upon an activation of G/NP-013 and G/NP-019 (The Calf and Yarlside) that Karl 2E0CSS and I undertook on the 4th June.
Well done both. Brings back memories of my activation of those two with Barry M0IML many years ago. Hope to catch you s2s one day when we are allowed back on the mountains in Wales. Stay safe.
Thanks for the report and the QSO. Did the same walk a couple of yeras ago. When it is open the food at the Cross Keys is very good. Long story behind the temparance bit. Hope to work you again on another hill, or even better on a S2S. 73 Paul
I recommend the Sarsparilla (By Mawson’s of Oldham) at Cross Keys, Cautley. A refreshing drink in the pub there when they re-open and they will sell you a bottle to take away. They try to sell you the diuted stuff, but with persuasion (and a few quid more) they’ll sell you the real strong stuff - the cordial, which will last you a while. It’s good stuff and has had poetry and songs written about it since Mawson developed it in 1933.
As anyone else drunk Mawson’s Sass? I know M0PYG likes the odd glass.
Thanks to 2E0TIE for sharing some nice pics of the Howgills with us. Looking forward to returning there in due course.
