today afternoon I was at CT/ES-009 expecting to give a lot of qso’s for chasers. However, it was not possible due to the unpredictable wind.
Today I was testing a new magnetic antenna loop and it was a bad idea indeed. It is very easy to assemble but my tripod is not that good and several times antenna was about to fell down. Then I did not find a suitable way to suspend the antenna around.
Next time I will take my dipole antenna.
With the KX3 I took my new Pico Paddle key and I must say it works well indeed.
Best 73 and sorry for so few qso’s today at CT/ES-009.
Pleased to hear that you have been out on the hills again. Sorry to read about the problem you have had with the windy conditions. It sounds like you have learnt some useful lessons, so hopefully you will be able to get the system set up for use on the summits.
I am planning to be QRV again next month from CT. Nothing firm has been arranged at this stage as to which summits, but I will be taking equipment and antennas for 14MHz and the higher bands, hopefully including 144MHz.
Back down in CT/AL again I’m afraid - the XYL needs the sea (though the water is cold!). I would like to activate the 3 CT/AL summits I have not yet activated, but I might miss the one near Faro as it is on its own - quite a diversion to pick it up, so I am looking at other options to make a sensible day out in the hills.
In reply to G4OIG:
Well, it is not the end of the world. My older sister lives in Albufeira and maybe next month I will visit her. If you are near the area we can arrange a meeting. I want to activate as well some Summits over there.
