Activation of Mt. Adi EA2/NV-017 today

Hello, dear Sota friends.

Today a small group composed with EA2BSB, EA2IF & EA2BD activated the summit of Adi today.

Although it was planned that only Santi and myself would go to this summit, in the last minute our friend “Guru” EA2IF joined us. It was going to be his Sota-baptism!

We did some VHF contacts first and then we settled the HF station.
I used my newly acquired MTR (mountain topper by KD1JV) little CW toy.
It is S/N 199, and today it was the first time I brought it to a summit. It behaved precisely! To avoid any damage on his finals I put a SWR qrp meter I built and all fit nicely into a wooden box designed for such Sota activities. The battery just fit inside as well (promise some photos in the future…).

I had a lot of calls. I pity I couldn’t set the MTR to work split, 'cause the pile-up was huge at the beginning. I need to get familiar with MTR options.

After some time, we changed operator, and EA2IF continued in the same freq in 20m. A pity we hadn’t mobile coverage to announce the spot, although Guru was sending his call every now and then.

In the end, we enjoyed a lot with all your calls. Thanks and stay tuned for more activities, as EA2IF is now engaged with SOTA!!

Take care VY 73

In reply to EA2BD:

Hi Ignacio;

great signal from the new MTR today, I hope you are happy with it.

Pileups were a bit deep for a week day in fact deeper than we seem to get at weekends these days.

As Roy mentioned in the newsletter, I think that the eu chasers are getting hungry for points due to the high level of 24Mhz activations.

Many thanks for the CW contact.
