Hi Marcel,
great read – many thanks for taking the time to summarize our trip! You really captured the spirit of the two days very nicely.
It was good to meet you again for some joint activations after such a long time! I really enjoyed the company, the relaxed atmosphere, and of course each of the three activations. Every one of them had its own special character.
The first activation on DM/BW-284 (Schnepfhalde) was simply perfect: sunshine and clouds, mild temperatures, and fantastic views – a wonderful start and pure enjoyment.
The temperature on DM/BW-849 (Wagnersberg) was still fairly mild, and it was lots of fun participating in the AGCW VHF contest there – plenty of activity, much more than you would expect (as you wrote). @VK3SQ, Geoff, the hourglass loop performed very well, see here: CQ 270 CW SSB Gang! - Cool Kids Sip from the Hour Glass? - #23 by DL3TU
The day wouldn’t have been complete without the dinner at the Hirschen: excellent food, good Rothaus Pils, and interesting conversation to round things off perfectly.
And then the third summit on the next day: DM/BW-851 (Ahaberg) … well
fog, snow, cold – the full winter package! I just scraped together the four QSOs, thank you for your patience, I really appreciate the fact that you stuck with it under these conditions ![]()
It was also great to meet Wolf, @DF7TF, on the way – those unexpected encounters make such trips unforgettable.
Thanks a lot for proposing and organizing this trip – we must do this again!
73,
Roman
