Activated summit W7Y/TT-147 this morning. My access trail was closed so I had to bushwhack straight up to the ridge. Once on the ridge, it was a very nice hike. After a long trudge, the summit turned out to be a perfect spot. A tree to hold my mast, no stakes required, and a nice flat spot in the shade to sit.
Also, in order to lighten load, I used internal battery on IC 705 and 5 watts. First time with 5 (instead of 10) and it didn’t seem to make a difference: 20 QSOs.

Looks like a pleasant, enjoyable activation. I lived in Jackson when I was a kid and spent a lot of time on that ridge but I haven’t been back since my youth. I am curious where you access the trailhead these days.

Hi Paul. You can access that ridge from Snow King, or from the Ferrin’s trail near the mouth of Cache Creek. I access it by riding my mountain bike 5 miles up Cache Creek to the pass into Game Creek. There is no trail on the ridge except for a feint game trail.
I looked at the video you posted on QRZ. You’ve done some pretty spectacular summits in Canada. I guess you don’t need to get your antenna up very high when the ridge narrow and drops dramatically.
Hi John. Thanks for the report. Did you try to contact me? I had such a pileup to start that it’s no wonder I didn’t hear you. I’m fairly new at CW and in a pileup am lucky to get a few characters out of the conflicting signals.
Hi Josh. Thanks for the message. I see we’ve had QSOs on two of my activations. Hope we can do a S2S soon. Love your '69 camper van. I used to have a '71 panel bus that I converted into a camper but no pop up roof. Just bought the bed, windows, and table. It also doubled as a plumbing van.
