Looks like the talk and table at Wyong Field Day had an effect!
7000 that’s cool!

The thing that I find really impressive is that in the RSGB Annual report for 2013, the number of IOTA participants who “qualify for the annual Honour Roll by updating at least once every five years” stood at 1441 in 2013. By comparison the number of Activators entering activations into the SOTA database in 2013 was 1697. At some point in the not too distant past SOTA surpassed IOTA in terms of active participation. Terrific!

I was also impressed by the difference in the number of participants between IOTA and SOTA until someone reminded me that before you can claim any position/award in the IOTA system you have to be able to claim 100 islands/groups.
If we use a similar cut-off for SOTA (100 activations or chases not points) how many participants does that give us?
A quick look at the tables shows 316 activators have made more than 100 activations, do the IOTA stats say how many regular island activators there are.
More relevent perhaps is that 1197 SOTA chasers have recorded more than 100 Activators worked. This is roughly equivalent to the IOTA figures.
