A question came up this evening on one of the 4sqrp. yahoo groups, here in North America.
Is there a suggested CW calling frequency in use? I’ll just put this out there for the EU Sota group. I know different regions have certain allotted frequencies. Shame on me I guess because I’ve never even tried to make a contact on the 60 mtr. band myself. Anybody?? Thanks de Scotty KG3W

The UK band utilization chart at
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wadei/UK_60m_band_utilization.htm
shows 5.260 and 5.262 as CW centres of activity (with the later being QRP).
I haven’t seen anything else that suggests CW frequencies for the band.

I doubt that there could be a universal calling frequency for any mode, since the allocations of different countries vary so much. A listing of local calling frequencies would be a handy thing to have available so that the different splits could be installed in rig memories.

…and 5.280 too, but there’s also an Em Com COA there.
I’ve no idea how well those match up to allocations elsewhere, as information out on the Net’s a little contradictory, possibly because there’ve been quite a few changes recently.

Easy, make skeds where each end knows which freq. the other with TX on.
UK stations can TX near 5.262 and listen there and also wherever US stations are allowed. It’s not a big dal to make some skeds before hand as you are not too likely to stumble across each other randomly, especially considering the “NVISyness” of typical SOTA antennas.

Thanks Guys for the info! I’ll pass this on to the 4S qrp group as a possible guideline that might work for qrp’ers here in the states.
By the way Andy, I see that you coined a new word. NVISyness. I love that word. As they used to say on that 70’s TV show; Laugh In; Look that up in your Funk & Wagnel… 72 and tnx agn. de Scotty KG3W
