After a really hard day (3 summits) and the “must” crossing of Klaus thru 24Mhz on his last summit, I think that a lot of EU “SOTers” were waiting him on 10 Mhz.
But what a surprise! After Klaus sent his spot for QSY’ing to 10mhz… we found the band, from 10120 to 10126 full of RTTY stns!
Fast setup of SDR and RTTY dec soft, and all was clear… a VU station and his “beautiful” pile-up covering the carpet…in the middle of the CW only segment! It was a very good show the SDR display full of “storming” rtty signals, and Klaus trying in the middle…
Fortunately, Klaus was able to find a small window on 10.115 to make us all happy!
Yes the RTTY on 10MHz was a surprise for me too, thankfully Klaus did find a clear window on 10.115
Thanks to Klaus from me also, I didn’t manage to work him on 12m from any summits, but 30m & 20m worked well for all except DM/BW-536 where I could not hear him well enough to work him on 14.330 SSB.

Band plans on 30 metres are somewhat inconsistent. IARU regions 1 and 3 have CW only up to 10.140 and digital modes up from there, while IARU region 2 lets digital modes in from 10.130. However, individual countries may play by different rules, and I know VK has an SSB segment between 10.115 and 10.140. Apparently India has an RTTY segment between 10.130 and 10.140…

I know, Rick, but the VU station was txmitting on 10.120 mhz, and almost all the pile-up “collegues” i was able to hear were from EU.
I’m not sure if in all CEPT countries the IARU band plans were mandatory -as is in EA- but sometimes it seems that everything can be done on the way to a good dx… If it must be done, let’s DO it, don’t care about anything!
Small house to live together without a minimum of mmm… education?
Sorry, but some things make me really hangry. I beg your pardon!

Band plans here aren’t, they’re just a “Gentlemen’s agreement”. However, the assumption is that all amateurs will be well-mannered ladies and gentlemen.
I’m guessing the pileup was full of hungry IOTA chasers trying to catch the VU7 Lakshadweep Islands DXpedition, none of whom have seen that “antisocial pileup behaviour” video (or anything else of that ilk)…

hi Mikel,
first i thinked i´m in a contest or so…asked qrl on the qrg…nothing !
then after the first cq i only received rtty with 9+30 sigs …
good to find a gap on 115 at the side of another dx pile up.

the years before i send allways after every qso my callsign. on the last activations i stopped that to reduce operating time. today i tried again to end every qso with -df2gn/p k- not only one time i heard someone asking today- qrz ? ur call?-…the next time i work a bit on my qso handling. try out some things and look how it works. maybe 40m cw at late afternoon is a good choice for a test
Today your operating was FB. You gave your callsign often enough for me, & many other chasers. Maybe those who asked for your callsign should have listened longer?
