Xmas Quiz 2016 - answers thread

My son’s bass guitar has five strings!

M1EYP: Some have 6, 7, 8 or even more too Brian. But traditionally, and originally it is a 4 string instrument. Check out the 24 string “Godzilla” bass: Christopher Cardone's WTF24 "Godzilla" Bass - YouTube (warning, there is a profanity after a couple of minutes in).

OK Tom, How many feet does a Tortoise have then? Have you been running amok with a penknife? Tortoise shanks for Christmas?

BTW The speed of light in a perfect vacuum is 299,792,458 m/s. Your number is out by roughly half a ppm. That’s about 219. 992 528 Hz on 144 MHz.

I think it has been noted already that no centipede has 100 legs and no millipede has a thousand legs.

Also the number of the beast is actually 616. 666 was an old interpretation or transcription error that has become stuck in many documents.

A new version of the quiz sheet has been posted in the sticky topic showing the solved ones (with solvers’ callsigns) and highlighting those as of yet unsolved. I’m posting this note here as I imagine several of those taking part may have printed off the quiz sheet and just be looking at this thread.
