WAB Winter Award

Morning all, I’ll slip this one in here, if you don’t mind, as there is an element of interest in it for UK SOTA activators. Thanks & 73, Dave.

Worked All Britain’s Winter Award starts in tomorrow on 1st December, for a three month period. As last year it is a points based system involving working (or hearing in the case of SWL’s) certain elements of the award scheme. These are:
10km x 10km Ordnance Survey grid squares
100km x 100km Ordnance Survey grid squares
Islands
Pillar type Trig Points
WAB Members

Full details are on the WAB website. There are separate requirements for HF and VHF and there is also a free award for activators.

You do not have to be a WAB member in order to collect for the awards although, of course, WAB welcomes new members and you are then “collectable” yourself for the awards.

Awards can be endorsed for any band/mode that you wish.

Life membership of the group, via post, is only £7, for which you receive a printed claims booklet and two CD’s, which contain the relevant files, should you wish to keep an electronic record. There are no other costs relating to the awards, unless you claim certificates, which themselves are very modestly priced.

Full details of this award and others, along with how to be become a member may be found on the link below. We look forward to meeting friends, old and new, on the air in the coming months.

Have often clocked many a good WAB square and islands funny enough via Sota.

PS 26 days before Christmas
