People apparently compare this stretch of the Appalachian Trail to Scotland’s highlands. I don’t know about that, as I’ve never been. I know the weather in the morning was as atrocious as the mountains were breathtaking in the afternoon. Highly recommended SOTA destination!

Glad you had a good time! I last climbed Roan Mountain decades ago on a backpacking trip over a Thanksgiving holiday break from university. We had great autumn weather, as I recall. Looks like I will have to go back now with the SOTA rig!
